About ISKCON Vrindavan

Serving Vrindavan since 1975

Built by Srila Prabhupada in the forest where Krishna played, the Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir has welcomed pilgrims from every corner of the earth for fifty years — a sacred home for devotion in the heart of the holy dham.

Our Story

A temple built on faith and service

In 1975, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada established the Krishna Balaram Mandir in Raman Reti — the very forest where Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram played as children. It was among the last and most beloved temples he built with his own hands.

He envisioned a place where the science of Krishna consciousness would be lived and shared — where pilgrims from every land could take darshan, hear the Bhagavatam, honour prasadam, and feel at home in the holy dham.

Half a century later, that vision flourishes as a living, global community — sustained each day by the devotion and generosity of devotees across the world.

The Founder-Acharya

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

At the age of sixty-nine, Srila Prabhupada travelled alone from India to the West with little more than a trunk of books and unshakable faith. Within a decade he had founded a worldwide movement, translated the timeless wisdom of the Vedas, and inspired millions onto the path of bhakti.

His translations — the Bhagavad-gita As It Is and the Srimad Bhagavatam among them — remain the foundation of devotional study across the globe. The Krishna Balaram Mandir stands as one of his most cherished legacies, carrying his vision forward for generations to come.

A personal message

From the Head of the Cultural Center

Vrindavan is not merely a place on a map — it is the eternal abode of Sri Sri Krishna Balaram, descended into this world for the shelter of every soul. To serve here is the rarest of fortunes.

The Krishna Balaram Cultural Center is our offering to the next hundred years: a home where our heritage is preserved, where children learn the teachings of Srila Prabhupada, and where pilgrims from forty-two countries gather as one family in devotion.

Every seva you offer — a meal, a lamp, a brick, a monthly gift — becomes part of this living legacy. Wherever you are, I invite you to participate in Krishna's service and help carry Srila Prabhupada's vision into the future.
